Tractor-trailer wrecks on icy road near Elwha River bridge

PORT ANGELES — A tractor-trailer jack-knifed near the Elwha River bridge on U.S. Highway 101 early Monday morning, snarling traffic for several hours.

State Trooper Russ Winger said no one was injured, but traffic was reduced to one lane for several hours.

Roads were icy early in the day and the truck was going too fast for conditions, he said.

The wreck was reported at about 3:39 a.m.

It was cleared at about 9:30 a.m., he said.

Icy roads made it difficult for crews to clear the scene, Winger said.
