EYE ON CLALLAM: Commissioners to eye Dry Creek Road improvements Tuesday

The three Clallam County commissioners will consider a contract amendment with the state County Road Administration Board to increase funding for paving and other improvements to Dry Creek Road on Tuesday.

The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. in the commissioners’ boardroom (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

Other agenda items include:

■ A proclamation recognizing May 15 as National Peace Officers’ Memorial Day.

■ An agreement with Pioneer Propane LLC to purchase easement for the Carlsborg sewer system project.

■ A bid opening for evaluation template development and data analysis.

■ A resolution authorizing action on current use assessment applications pursuant to the open space code.

At a work session that begins at 9 a.m. Monday, commissioners will discuss a contract extension and information technology purchase order for phone and voice mail system upgrades.

Port of Port Angeles

Port of Port Angeles commissioners will discuss the topics and schedule of a joint meeting with city of Port Angeles officials when they meet Monday.

Commissioners will meet for a workshop at 9 a.m. and for a regular meeting at 1 p.m. at 338 W. First St.

In addition to the meeting with the city, commissioners will discuss at the morning workshop requesting bids for a surveillance, access control and light improvement project; a timber advisory committee; a potential workshop for cross-laminated timber in Clallam County; and the marina advisory committee,

On the afternoon meeting’s agenda are the percent of occupied property in the master report and financial and investment reports.

Port Angeles comprehensive plan

The Port Angeles comprehensive plan update will be the topic of two workshops and a planning commission work session this week.

Public input will be taken at all three meetings, all of which are set from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Monday’s workshop will be in the jazz band room at Stevens Middle School, 1139 W. 14th St.

Tuesday’s workshop will be in the library at Franklin Elementary School, 2505 S. Washington St.

On Wednesday, the city planning commission will hold a work session in council chambers at City Hall, 321 E. Fifth St.

Port Angeles’ comprehensive plan establishes long-range policies for city land use, parks, transportation, housing and other services.

The 2016 update is expected to be complete by June 30.

Clallam PUD

Clallam County Public Utility District commissioners will consider adopting a resolution opposing Initiative 732, known as the Carbon Pollution Tax Act, on Monday.

The meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the Lake Crescent boardroom at the Carlsborg main office, located at 104 Hooker Road.

District commissioners also will present employee service awards for workers who achieved service milestones in 2015, consider signing a 2016-19 collective bargaining agreement with IBEW Local 997 and hear a staff presentation on the 2016 Reliable Public Power Provider reapplication process.

Sequim City Council

The Sequim City Council will consider wage increases for city police when it meets Monday.

The council will meet at 5 p.m. at the Sequim Civic Center, 152 W. Cedar St.

The bargaining agreements with Teamsters Local No. 589 for police officers and sergeants would be for three years.

The 2016 compensation for the two contracts would be $1.71 million.

The council also will consider placing centennial tiles around the drinking fountains in the Civic Center lobby.

It will consider approving a contract for the Carrie Blake Park parking lot project.

Forks City Council

The Forks City Council will hear a report on the Pacific Fishery Management Council ocean season when it meets Monday.

The council will meet at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall, 500 E. Division St.

Quillayute Valley schools

The Quillayute Valley School Board will consider accepting a $40,000 donation for a new Spartan Field scoreboard when it meets Tuesday.

The board will meet at 6 p.m. in the library at Forks High School, 261 S. Spartan Ave.

The donation for the purchase and installation of the scoreboard is from the Lloyd J. Allen charitable trust.

The board also will consider a debt service fund budget extension and approval of the school calendar and course catalog for Insight School of Washington, an online school.

It plans an executive session to review a public employee’s performance.

Peninsula College

Peninsula College trustees will meet in Port Townsend on Tuesday.

The meeting will be at 2 p.m. at the Port Townsend branch of the college at Fort Worden State Park, 298 Battery Way.

Clallam Conservation District

Clallam Conservation District commissioners will consider an interlocal agreement with the state Department of Fish and Wildlife for the McDonald Creek irrigation diversion project Tuesday.

The meeting will begin at 3 p.m. in Suite H at Armory Square, 228 W. First St., Port Angeles.

Other agenda items include the next phase of the Dungeness Irrigation District piping project, revisions to engineering policy, solicitation for consulting engineer services, cash receipting policy and procedures, an all-district meeting report and cooperator and cost-share agreements.
