WOMEN’S COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Port Angeles graduate Madison helps Alaska-Anchorage reach Final Four; tonight’s game will be broadcast nationally

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Port Angeles High School graduate Jessica Madison scored a team-high 15 points to help the University of Alaska-Anchorage advance to the NCAA Division II women’s basketball Final Four.

The Seawolves defeated Francis Marion University 79-55 in the Elite Eight on Tuesday.

Alaska-Anchorage will face Grand Valley State in the Final Four tonight (Wednesday) at 6:30 p.m. The game will be televised nationally by CBS Sports Network (see box to right).

Madison, the leading scorer in the history of Port Angeles High School basketball, hit three straight 3-pointers for the Seawolves during a 20-4 run in the first half.

Madison made 5 of 6 shots from the field in Tuesday’s game, including 3 of 4 from 3-point range, and 2 of 3 at the free-throw line. The senior guard also had three assists and three rebounds.

If Alaska-Anchorage wins tonight, it will play in the Division II championship game Monday, April 4, in Indianapolis.
