COUPEVILLE — Field carrier landing practice operations for aircraft stationed at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island are scheduled at the outlying field in Coupeville.

On Tuesday and Friday, training is scheduled in the afternoon.

Flight training operations are subject to change due to weather, operational and/or training requirements.

STOP meeting

PORT ANGELES — Save The Olympic Peninsula (STOP) will introduce its legal team and hold a general meeting to update the community about activities in 2015 and expectations in 2016 on Tuesday.

All are welcome to the meeting in the Port Angeles Library’s South Carver Room, 2210 S. Peabody St., at 1 p.m.

STOP is dedicated to protecting the quality of all life by stopping activities that are detrimental to the environment, economy and health on the Olympic Peninsula, according to its website.

National Sew Day

PORT TOWNSEND — Quilts of Valor National Sew Day will be held at the American Legion Post 26, 209 Monroe St., from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.

The Quilts of Valor Foundation makes quilts for veterans and service members touched by war.

Participants can bring a sewing machine.

Patterns and fabric will be provided.

Soup and salad will be served for lunch.

Spring ALPs set

PORT TOWNSEND — Quimper Unitarian Universalist Fellowship (QUUF) has set its spring 2016 Adult Learning Programs (ALPs).

Special events, courses and ongoing groups will be offered to the public free of charge from February through June.

These regular ALPs offerings are designed to meet a variety of interests, including one-day workshops, lectures and field trips.

Course brochures will be available beginning Monday, Feb. 8, at QUUF, 2333 San Juan Ave., plus Jefferson County libraries and the Port Townsend Community Center, 620 Tyler St.

There is no fee for classes, though some may involve book or material costs and field trips may involve travel expenses or entry fees.

All are welcome to attend.

Child care is available on request for programs during after-school hours.

Public enrollment begins Feb. 8.

Foster parenting

PORT ANGELES — The Alliance for Children Welfare Excellence will offer free training at the Department of Children and Family Services office, 201 W. First St., for anyone interested in becoming a licensed foster parent.

There will be an orientation from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16.

The first core training module classes are Feb. 18, 19 and 20.

The second core training module classes are Feb. 25, 26 and 27.

The weeknight classes run from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and the Saturday classes run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
