GYMNASTICS: Port Angeles wins third consecutive meet

POULSBO — Port Angeles won its third straight meet by edging Kingston 146 to 135.7 at Breidablick Gymnasium.

Maya Wharton (31.55) and Cassii Middlestead (30.2) placed second and third, respectively, in the all-around at Thursday’s meet.

Three other Port Angeles gymnasts finished in the all-around top 10: Sydney Miner (28.0) was fifth, Nikaila Price (27.2) sixth and Cassidy Tamburro (26.75) was seventh.

Middlestead was the Riders’ only individual event winner. She took first on the balance beam with a score of 8.5. She also placed second on the uneven bars.

Wharton had two runner-up showings, in the vault and the floor.

Port Angeles returns to Breidablick Gymnasium on Wednesday to face North Kitsap.
