EYE ON JEFFERSON: County to address plan amendments

The three Jefferson County commissioners will discuss proposed amendments to countywide planning and population projections at a meeting today.
The item is part of the afternoon agenda, which begins at 1:30 p.m. in chambers, 1820 Jefferson St.
At the same meeting, commissioners will address the preparation of supporting documents for the critical area ordinance update.
Items on the consent agenda scheduled for approval at the 9 a.m. regular meeting include:
■ A $132,285 professional services agreement with Skookum for employment and technical assistance.
■ Acceptance of $41,530 from the state for the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) and Guardian ad Litem (GAL) programs.
■ Acceptance of $25,036 from the state for truancy, at-risk child and child in need of services, known as the Becca programs.
■ Renewal of a contract, not to exceed $331,697, with the Washington State Military Department E911 Program for JeffCom wireline and wireless operations.
■ A change order for the Upper Hoh Road culvert replacement that increases expenditure by $79,038 for a total of $594,038. The project is funded by the Federal Highway Administration.
■ Final approval of plat changes for Discovery Ridge Preserve.
Port Townsend city
The Port Townsend City Council will discuss a climate change preparedness plan for the North Olympic Peninsula when it meets today.
The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers at historic City Hall, 540 Water St.
Also on the agenda is a discussion of budget goals and priorities for 2016.
Also meeting this week will be the City Council General Services & Special Projects Committee.
The panel will meet from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday in council chambers.
Members will discuss a compensation study for all non-bargaining employees, such as the public works director and city engineer.
They also will consider rules related to advisory boards and commissions.
Council office hours, during which members of the public can discuss any topic with a member of the City Council, will take place from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday in the mayor’s office at historic City Hall.
Port Townsend schools
The Port Townsend School Board will consider naming an appointee to its vacant seat when it meets today.
The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the Mountain View Gym, 1919 Blaine St.
The meeting will be preceded at 5:30 p.m. in the same location by an interview of Constance Welch, who has applied for the School Board.
The School Board will consider a facilities committee recommendation for architects for the pre-bond process and resolutions to support the YMCA proposed facility and an instructional materials task force.
Jefferson Transit
Jefferson Transit board members will discuss surplus property at a meeting Tuesday.
The board will meet at 1:30 p.m. at the Port Townsend Fire Station, 701 Harrison St.
Also on the agenda is consideration of an interlocal agreement for mutual aid and an executive session to discuss personnel.
Jefferson Healthcare
Jefferson Healthcare commissioners will meet Wednesday.
Commission meetings are scheduled on the first and third Wednesdays every month at 3:30 p.m. in the Jefferson Healthcare Conference Room, Suite 302, on the third floor at 2500 W. Sims Way.
No agenda was available by Saturday.
OESD 114
The Olympic Educational Service District 114 board will discuss goals for the 2015-16 school year and Head Start Program monitoring when it meets in Bremerton on Thursday.
The board will meet at noon at 105 National Avenue N.
The district covers public school districts in the Olympic and Kitsap peninsulas.
