Port Townsend woman still in hospital after Port Hadlock wreck

PORT HADLOCK— A Port Townsend woman was listed in stable condition at Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton after a head-on collision on Chimacum Road in Port Hadlock on Friday morning.

Lynn Rae Chesterfield, 54, of Port Townsend was driving southbound in a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe when it crossed the centerline and collided with a 1999 Ford Mustang driven northbound by Dawn Inez Lovitt, 50, of Poulsbo at Elkins Road, according to a State Patrol collision memo.

The collision was reported at 7:24 a.m. Friday.

Chesterfield was taken to Harrison Medical Center. She was listed in stable condition Friday, and a hospital spokesman Saturday said her condition had not changed.

She was cited for failure to yield, troopers said.

Lovitt was taken to Jefferson Healthcare hospital in Port Townsend, where she was treated and discharged Friday.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts, troopers said. Drugs or alcohol were not involved, they added.
