Information sessions set Wednesday, Thursday in West End for small-business competition

FORKS — Information sessions will be held this week at several locations in the West End for the Washington Coast Works: Sustainable Small Business Competition.

The contest, organized by The Nature Conservancy, the Center for Inclusive Entrepreneurship at Pinchot University and the Taala Fund, offers entrepreneurs an opportunity to develop skills, get support and win a cash prize, according to a news release.

Sessions will be held in Forks and LaPush on Wednesday and in Neah Bay on Thursday.

The contest’s winner will receive $10,000 in startup funding, and two semifinalists will receive $5,000 each.

Prizes are funded by First Federal and the Quinault Nation.

The three-hour workshops will include information on applications, selection of winners, and training and support.

Brainstorming for new ideas also will be offered.

All sessions are free and open to the public, and registration is not required.

Entrants are encouraged but not required to attend one of the sessions.

Those interested have until June 19 to enter at www.wacoastworks.org.

■   LaPush: Wednesday, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Tribal Office West Wing, 90 Main St.

■   Forks: Wednesday, 4 p.m.-7 p.m. Peninsula College Forks extension site, 481 S. Forks Ave.

■   Neah Bay: Thursday, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Makah Marina building, 1321 Bay View Ave.
