The four area basketball teams still playing earned the right to return to practice next week.

The Neah Bay boys and girls won their regional games at Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma on Saturday.

The girls defeated Bickleton 52-35 to punch their ticket to state.

The boys held off Three Rivers Christian 63-60 to earn another state berth.

The Red Devils teams will learn Sunday who they will begin the state tournament against.

At Peninsula College, the Peninsula women routed shorthanded Shoreline 87-20 on Saturday.

With the win, the Pirates clinched the outright NWAC North Region championship. They will open the NWAC tournament next Saturday against Portland.

The Peninsula men fell to Shoreline 83-69, but the Pirates still secured an NWAC tournament berth thanks to Skagit Valley’s loss to Edmonds.

Peninsula will open the tournament against Clackamas next Saturday.
