PORT ANGELES — Artist Lynn Rideout of Port Townsend will give a free talk on “Voices in Fire,” her exhibition at the Peninsula College PUB Gallery of Art, at 12:35 p.m. today, just as the show comes to a close.

After her 50-minute presentation in the college’s Little Theater, Rideout will stay for a reception in the PUB Gallery.

The public is invited to both free events in the college’s J Building, where the artist’s 25 paintings are on display through today.

Rideout’s artwork explores three areas: “Discovering My Self,” “Exposing My Self” and “Recovering the Self.”

They are, she has said, part of her journey through and out of “a noisy and chaotic alcoholic family.”

“I found art to be the pathway to the process of healing . . . Art has given me the opportunity to express, to sense, to heal and to come to better understand the Creator and my inner self.”

For information about today’s events and other free activities open to the public at Peninsula College at 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd., visit www.pencol.edu, find Peninsula College on Facebook or phone 360-452-9277.
