PORT ANGELES — The second annual Run for Safe Families, a fundraiser for Healthy Families of Clallam County, is at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Registration will begin at 9 a.m. at City Pier at Railroad Avenue and Lincoln Street.

Fees are $35 for adults and $10 for children younger than 18.

Participants also can register online at www.tinyurl.com/HFRace or stop by the Healthy Families office at 1210 E. Front St., Suite C.

Proceeds will benefit local adult and child survivors of domestic violence, Healthy Families said.

A puppet show is planned, as well as a Silent Witness Vigil.

Silent Witness Vigils feature life-sized figurines bearing the names of those in Washington state whose lives ended violently due to domestic violence.

The run marks Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

“Domestic violence is an epidemic affecting individuals in every community, regardless of age, economic status, sexual orientation, gender, race, religion,or nationality, and is closely associated to other types of family violence such as child abuse,” Healthy Families said in a news release.

It can occur in a number of forms: physical, emotional, verbal or sexual abuse, the agency said.

Anyone in a violent abusive situation or who know someone who is can contact local law enforcement.

Here are the phone numbers: Sequim Police Department, 360-683-7227; Port Angeles Police Department, 360-452-4545; Clallam County Sheriff’s Office, 360-417-2459.
