WEEKEND: Clallam Democrats to host dinner tonight in Port Angeles

PORT ANGELES — The Clallam County Democrats will host the annual Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt Dinner tonight.
The event at the Red Lion Hotel, 221 N. Lincoln St., opens with a reception downstairs with elected officials at 5:30 p.m.
Dinner will be served upstairs in the dining room at 7 p.m.
Cost is $60 per person.
Guest speaker will be Jaxon Ravens, chairman of the state Democratic Party.
Retiring Clallam County Commissioner Mike Doherty will receive a lifetime achievement award.
Doherty, 71, has served 20 years on the three-member Clallam County Board of Commissioners.
He represents District 3 from western Port Angeles to Neah Bay.
The evening also will include recognition of Norma Turner of Port Angeles as Democratic Woman of the Year and Roger Fight of Sequim as Democratic Man of the Year.
Former state Rep. Lynn Kessler, D-Hoquiam, will oversee the ceremonies.
The dinner is co-chaired by Marcia Farrell of Port Angeles and Julie Johnson of Neah Bay.
