Sequim driver hurt in chain-reaction crash on U.S. 101

SEQUIM — A 34-year-old Sequim man was taken to a hospital after a chain-reaction crash on the U.S. Highway 101 Sequim bypass this afternoon.

The State Patrol reported that a 2002 Kia Rio driven by Michael Lee Davis of Sequim was traveling eastbound on U.S. 101 at the Sequim Avenue exit when it crashed into three vehicles stopped or slowed for traffic.

The crash caused a chain-reaction collision with the other vehicles, operated by drivers from Federal Way, Gig Harbor and Kenmore, troopers reported.

Davis was injured and taken to Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles, the State Patrol reported, adding that the other three drivers were uninjured.

The Kia and a pickup truck into which the Kia slammed were destroyed, according to troopers. The other two vehicles, though damaged, were driven from the scene.

Inattention and speed to fast for conditions were cited by the State Patrol as the cause of the crash.
