BRINNON — With an apparent win on the horizon for Jefferson County Fire District No. 4’s levy lid lift, fire officials in Brinnon aren’t ready to celebrate — yet.
While today’s second count of ballots showed the measure maintaining a nearly 20 percent margin of support, the officials will wait until after the election is certified Aug. 19, said Lt. Curtis Lightner, the fire department’s spokesman in matters relating to the levy.
After today’s count, the tally shows 330 votes for the levy, or 59.14 percent, and 228 votes against, or 40.86 percent.
The measure requires a simple majority of 50 percent to pass.
Brinnon fire district officials have said that the levy lid lift is necessary to fund repairs of its three worn fire engines and complete repairs to fire stations.
