PORT ANGELES — Sissi Bruch, a Port Angeles City Councilwoman, and Bill Peach of Forks appear to be moving on to the Nov. 4 general election for the District 3 seat on the Clallam County commission.
In the first count of Tuesday’s primary election votes, Bruch, 54, a Democrat, won 1,452 votes, or 43.1 percent, while, Peach, 59, a Republican, garnered 1,349 votes, or 40 percent.
Forks Mayor Bryon Monohon, who filed with no party preference, took the third spot with 565 votes, or 16.8 percent.
In races with three or more candidates, the Aug. 5 top-two primary election narrowed the Nov. 4 general election ballot to the two candidates who received the most votes.
Only the 13,375 voters registered in Clallam County District 3 were mailed ballots to nominate the two candidates who will appear on the November ballot for the county commissioner position.
The entire county will vote for a new commissioner in November.
Peach, a retired Rayonier Inc. regional manager and current Quillayute Valley Parks and Recreation District commissioner, lost to fellow Republican Robin Poole in the 2010 primary for the seat representing the western third of the county to which Mike Doherty was reelected.
Doherty is not running for reelection this year.
