COLLEGE SOCCER: Peninsula College women are NWAACC West Division champs after win over Highline

TUKWILA — Kelsie Ng scored two second-half goals to help the Peninsula College women’s soccer team locked down its third consecutive NWAACC West Division championship by coming from behind to beat Highline 3-2 on Wednesday at Starfire Complex.

Shelbi Vienna-Hallam scored a goal in the first half off an assist by Bronte Fitzsimmons to put the Pirates ahead 1-0.

Highline (9-3-1, 12-3-2) scored an equalizer to send the game into halftime knotted at 1-1. The goal ended Peninsula’s streak of seven consecutive shutouts.

The Thunderbirds then took a 2-1 lead to put pressure on the NWAACC defending champs.

Ng tied the game off an assist by Vienna-Hallam.

Ng then put Peninsula ahead 3-2 on a free kick.

Emily Flinn was in goal for the top-ranked Pirates, who have won 14 straight games, dating back to Sept. 1.

Peninsula (13-0, 14-2), which is ranked 14th in the nation, plays at Olympic (5-6-2, 5-6-4) on Saturday afternoon.
