Openings announced on Clallam advisory boards

PORT ANGELES — The Board of Clallam County Commissioners has announced an immediate opening on the Civil Service Commission due to a resignation, as well as openings on 15 other advisory boards.

The deadline to apply is Nov. 1. All positions are unpaid.

Vacancies exist on the following panels:

■ Agricultural Commission — The five open positions are for one farmer each in commissioner districts 1 and 2, an at-large farmer and two non-farmers at large.

■ Animal Issues Advisory Committee — The four open positions are representatives of tribal government, Friends of Forks Animals, Olympic Animal Sanctuary and an at-large seat.

■ Boundary Review Board — The three open positions are for county, city and special district representatives.

■ Building Code Board of Appeals — The two open positions are for an alternate who is a general contractor, civil or structural engineer or architect with at least 10 years’ experience, as well as a building official, fire marshal or inspector, or fire plan examiner with at least five years’ experience.

■ Chemical Dependency/Mental Health Program Fund Advisory Board — The two open positions are for a consumer or past consumer of chemical dependency or mental health services, along with a private provider of mental health services not contracting for funding.

■ Civil Service Commission — The open position is for a Republican, Democrat or Democrat/independent. No more than two appointees can be members of the same political party.

■ Developmental Disabilities Advisory Committee — Two positions open.

■ Heritage Advisory Board — The open position is for a resident of District 2, which includes Port Angeles.

■ Homelessness Task Force — The three open positions are for representatives of tribal government, health care providers and service providers on the West End.

■ Marine Resource Committee — The two open seats are for representatives of the Clallam Bay/Sekiu community and of commercial fishing.

■ Noxious Weed Control Board — The open position is for a person to represent the coastal area from Angeles Point west to Cape Flattery and south to Lake Ozette as well as the West End communities.

■ Park and Recreation Advisory Board — Two seats are open.

■ Permit Advisory Board — The open position is for a representative of building trades.

■ Sheriff’s Citizens Advisory Committee — The four open positions are for representatives of the unincorporated area around Forks, as well as the Quileute, Makah and Lower Elwha Klallam tribes.

■ Solid Waste Advisory Committee — The two open seats are for representatives of Murrey’s Olympic Disposal and tribal governments.

■ Trail Advisory Committee — Representatives of 10 groups are needed. Those include advocacy groups for trails around Sequim, Port Angeles, the western area and the Strait of Juan de Fuca.

Also needed are representatives of Olympic National Park, the state Department of Natural Resources, a large private forest company, the city governments of Port Angeles and Sequim, and off-road motorized groups.
