Clallam Transit to issue IDs for seniors, disabled

PORT ANGELES — Clallam Transit staff will hit the road in the coming weeks to issue regional reduced-fare permit program identification cards to disabled and senior passengers.

The cards are available to eligible residents for a one-time cost of $3.

They can be used for discounted fares on Clallam Transit and a dozen other transportation systems, including ferries, around the Puget Sound.

Effective Oct. 1, all disabled and senior Clallam Transit passengers will be required to have the ID card for reduced monthly passes.

The cards will be required for reduced cash fare beginning Jan. 1.

Cards will be issued at the following locations and times:

■ Thursday at the Sequim Transit Center, 190 W. Cedar St., from 10 a.m. to noon.

■ Oct. 3 at the Veterans Stand Down at the Clallam County Fairgrounds, 1608 W. 16th St., Port Angeles, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

■ Oct. 8 at the Port Angeles Senior Center, 328 E. Seventh St., from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

■ Oct. 15 at the Shipley Center (Sequim Senior Center), 921 E. Hammond St., from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

On other days, the cards will be issued at the Clallam Transit headquarters at 830 W. Lauridsen Blvd. in west Port Angeles between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
