Port Townsend begins free outdoor concerts; Sequim, PA concerts set this week

Published 12:01 am Sunday, July 7, 2013

A third evening of free outdoor music is added this week as Port Townsend begins its Concerts on the Dock series Thursday.

Port Townsend’s summer concerts join Tuesday’s Music in the Park in Sequim and Wednesday’s Concerts on the Pier in Port Angeles.

Bring chairs and a picnic dinner, or partake of food vendors at these family-friendly events.

Blankets and warm clothing may be in order since nights can be cool.

This week’s schedule is:

SEQUIM — Tuesday, Locos Only (rock and blues) 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Sequim’s Music in the Park series is every Tuesday through Aug. 27 at the outdoor James Center amphitheater in the Sequim Water Reuse Park, 563 N. Rhodefer Road, just north of Carrie Blake Park.

Don’t forget to bring your own seating to the grassy expanse.

Next Concert in the Park: Young Fiddlers, fiddle music, July 16.

PORT ANGELES — Wednesday, The Dukes of Dabob (Dixieland jazz), 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The Port Angeles Regional Chamber of Commerce’s concert series is every Wednesday through Sept. 4 at City Pier.

City Pier is a no-smoking, no-skateboards, alcohol-free venue.

Some chairs are available for the disabled and early arrivals.

Next Concert on the Pier: Fat Chance Band, rock ‘n’ roll, July 18.

“Bubble Man” — Greg Bondy, who provides entertainment for kids at Concert on the Pier with chalk for pavement drawing and a bubble-making machine — is running low on supplies and would appreciate donations.

Boxes of colored “sidewalk chalk” and bottles of bubble-making “super soap” can be brought to the concerts, or dropped off for him at Hartnagel Building Supply, 3111 E. U.S. Highway 101, Port Angeles.

PORT TOWNSEND — Thursday, The Better Half (R&B, soul and funk-rock), 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The Port Townsend Main Street Concert on the Dock series is every Thursday through Aug. 29 at the Pope Marine Plaza on the downtown waterfront.

A wine, beer and cider garden will be available.

Next Concert on the Dock: The Solvents backed by Aardvark with the Pitfalls, classic rock, July 18.
