Olympic National Park officially becomes 75 years old on Saturday.

President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed legislation creating the national park at his Hyde Park, N.Y., estate on June 29, 1938.

As part of our coverage of the park’s diamond anniversary, staff photojournalist Keith Thorpe created this 4-minute video of sights and sounds of the Elwha River Valley, which is one of the myriad scenic highlights of the national park.

The Elwha Valley and the rest of Olympic National Park is free to everybody Saturday in honor of the park’s 75th anniversary. Come visit!
