PORT ANGELES — Veteran Washington State University Clallam County Master Gardener Jeanette Stehr-Green will talk with gardeners about the different types of strawberries during a “Green Thumb Garden Tips” brown bag lecture Thursday, June 27.

The presentation will be at noon in the county commissioners’ meeting room (Room 160) of the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St.

The presentations are free and open to the public. Donations are accepted to help offset copying costs for handouts.

Stehr-Green will explain the three general types of strawberries: June-bearing, everbearing and day-neutral.

She will talk about characteristics upon which to base variety selection and identify varieties recommended for Western Washington.

She also will describe how to freeze strawberries and share recipes that use strawberries.

This presentation is a part of the brown bag series sponsored by the WSU Clallam County Master Gardeners the second and fourth Thursday of every month in Port Angeles.
