PORT ANGELES — Clallam County commissioners today will consider approving a pair of contracts for upgrades to county buildings.

Parks, Fair and Facilities Manager Joel Winborn on Monday recommended approval of a $22,448 contract with Hoch Construction of Port Angeles to paint the merchants’ barn and a portion of the floral barn at the Clallam County Fairgrounds in west Port Angeles.

The buildings will be painted before this year’s fair, which is set for Aug. 15-18.

Winborn also recommended a $164,555 contract with John Lupo Construction of Aberdeen to re-roof the Third Street Professional Building at 111 E. Third St., Port Angeles.

The county moved the public health division of its Health and Human Services Department into the Third Street building north of Safeway in 2010.

It has office space for 13 county staffers, an interview office, two exam rooms and two woman-infant child rooms.

The roofing project is scheduled to be completed by Sept. 30.

Hoch Construction submitted the only bid for the painting project May 28.

Last year, the county added new lighting for the west midway and painted the agriculture and art barns at the fairgrounds.

County crews and volunteers recently painted two smaller barns.

The bid from John Lupo Construction was one of four that commissioners opened for the roofing project June 4.
