PORT TOWNSEND — A trio of local actors will take on Dave Barry, the Pulitzer Prize-winning humor columnist, in this Saturday night’s edition of PT Shorts.
Hosted by Key City Public Theatre, PT Shorts is a free literary reading series that coincides, every first Saturday of the month, with downtown Port Townsend’s Gallery Walk.
So lovers of art and literature can taste both. Art venues on and near Water Street will have free receptions from 5:30 p.m. till 8 p.m. Saturday, and then PT Shorts goes on at 7:30 p.m.
The place for the hour long reading is the Pope Marine Building at Water and Madison streets.
The Key City actors to tackle Barry’s stories are Catherine McNabb, Don White and Art Reitsch, and the selected pieces are all from the book Dave Barry’s Greatest Hits, which covers writings from 1983 through 2005.
The Barry pieces to be read are appropriate for all ages, according to Key City’s website, www.KeyCityPublicTheatre.org. They are “A Boy and His Hobby,” “Daze of Wine and Roses,” “Valuable Scam Offer,” “Molecular Homicide,” “Dave’s Medical Journal” and “Restrooms and Other Resorts.”
