PORT ANGELES — Clallam County Superior Court Judge Erik Rohrer set bail of $1 million today for Barry A. Swegle, who was arrested Friday after allegedly climbing aboard a bulldozer and rampaging through a Gales Addition neighborhood east of Port Angeles, destroying three homes.

Swegle, 51, told Rohrer that he would try to hire his own lawyer.

There were no injuries reported in the incident, during which a power pole also was toppled and a pickup truck flattened.

Swegle was arrested around midday Friday for investigation of two counts of first-degree assault and six counts of malicious mischief.

A hearing during which formal charges will be filed has been scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday in Superior Court.
