PORT LUDLOW — The Port Ludlow Village Council Wellness Committee will present an information session on heart attack prevention, treatment and rehabilitation at the Bay Club, 120 Spinnaker Place, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday (May 14).

The Heart Attack Protocols and Rehabilitation Forum is free and open to the public.

The forum will feature presentations by three local health professionals and updates to recommended heart attack protocols developed jointly by Jefferson County health organizations in 2009.

Dr. David Tinker of Kitsap Cardiology Consultants and Harrison Medical Center will speak about heart attack care, management and treatment, and how they have changed dramatically over his 30 years in cardiac medicine.

He will discuss the importance of the phrase “Time is Muscle, Muscle is Life” and how critical each minute is when dealing with a heart attack.

Paramedic Tim Manly of the Port Ludlow Fire and Rescue Department will demonstrate the latest cardiac monitoring equipment and how cardiac information is transmitted to the control center.

Registered nurse Judy King, cardiac coordinator for Jefferson Healthcare, will discuss services designed to help cardiac patients prevent future occurrences and return to lead healthy, productive lives.
