PORT TOWNSEND — The American Association of University Women Foundation in Port Townsend will present scholarships and awards Saturday, May 18.

The AAUW Foundation branch will give one of three finalists the $8,000 Elmira K. Beyer Endowed Scholarship at the meeting that will begin at 9:30 a.m. at Quimper Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 2333 San Juan Ave.

Current and prospective members and guests are welcome.

All three finalists are women who plan to return to an accredited educational institution in the fall.

In addition to the full-tuition scholarship, $2,500 will be awarded to both of the runners-up.

Also, graduating senior girls — one each from Chimacum and Port Townsend high schools — will receive $1,500 scholarships.

STEM award

Winners of the high school STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) awards will be announced.

Each of the nine STEM award winners will receive a $100 gift certificate.

Middle school representatives of the Tech Trek summer camp also will be acknowledged.

AAUW officers for 2013-2014 will be elected and installed.

A DVD prepared by Lynne Bennett to celebrate the branch’s 65th anniversary will be shown.

Proceeds from AAUW’s Kitchen Tour fund the high school scholarships as well as AAUW programs in area schools.

AAUW membership is open to women who hold an associate degree or higher from a qualified educational institution.
