Museum & Arts Center to host free art demonstrations today

SEQUIM — A series of free art demonstrations — from weaving to sketching to quilting — starts today at the Museum & Arts Center, 175 W. Cedar St.
Everyone is invited to the first demo this afternoon, featuring Rebecca Wallace showing how to use a loom to weave lavender sticks. Wallace will be at the museum from noon to 3 p.m.

There’s no admission charge, but a $2 donation is suggested at the museum, also known as the MAC.
Next up with a demo of botanical sketching is illustrator Iris Edey from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 25.
Then on Sunday, May 26, Paulette Hill will give a demonstration of bead stitching and pendant wire-wrapping from noon to 3 p.m.
The Friendship Quilters will offer a quilt-making demo from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 18.
During these events, the MAC will provide light refreshments. Visitors also are invited to enjoy the museum’s displays of local art and history.
