State Conservation Commission to tour Jefferson

State Conservation Commission members will visit landowners, tour conservation project sites in Jefferson County and attend a dinner honoring longtime outgoing district supervisor John Boulton on Wednesday.
Boulton retired after 58 years on the Jefferson conservation district board, said Glenn Gately, water quality technician for the district.
The state commission members are traveling to the region to learn more about natural resource concerns in Jefferson County.
The conservation district has worked with landowners for more than 50 years. Projects have ranged from restoring native species to erosion control to protection of streams and salmon habitat while also maintaining working farms and forests.
Commissioners also will explore miles of salmon habitat and stream restoration along Andrews Creek, which empties into Puget Sound at Discovery Bay.
