PORT ANGELES — “Grease,” that vintage musical about “Summer Lovin’,” will arrive at the Port Angeles High School Performing Arts Center this July 12-20, so auditions are set for next Friday and Saturday, March 22 and 23.

The Port Angeles Light Opera Association, aka PALOA, is staging the show and will offer a musical audition workshop at 6:30 p.m. this Friday in the Port Angeles High School orchestra room, 304 E. Park Ave. The cost is $5.

“We have found the audition workshop to be very helpful for novice actors,” said “Grease” director Richard Stephens, adding that the workshop helps take the mystery and fear out of the tryout process.

The auditions will go from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. March 22 and from 9 a.m. to noon March 23 in the high school’s orchestra room. Callbacks will come at 1 p.m. March 23, Stephens said.

The cast and chorus are made up of “teenagers,” plus three adult roles: the Teen Angel, disc jockey Vince Fontaine and Miss Lynch, the senior English teacher.

Actors will be asked to read from the script and sing a portion of a song of their choice.

A piano accompanist will be on hand to play if sheet music is provided.
