PORT TOWNSEND — In a special benefit event, jazz standards, folk, country, blues and gospel will warm the place in a “Candlelight Concert” featuring Jim Nyby and Friends this Thursday.
Nyby and band will play at 7 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 609 Taylor St. uptown.
Admission is a $10 donation for teens and adults, while children are invited to come free.
Proceeds this time will benefit The Boiler Room coffee house-teen center downtown.
Nyby, who has lived here since 1990, is also known for his New Orleans-style blues and rock ‘n’ roll with the F Street Band, the Steel Madronas and the jazz group Café Combo.
He often can be found playing at The Upstage in Port Townsend and the Ajax Cafe in Port Hadlock.
At Thursday’s Candlelight Concert, the church doors will open at 6:30 p.m., and after the performance, everyone is invited to stay for refreshments.
