SEATTLE — Verizon Wireless’ faster 4G LTE cellular network will launch in the Port Angeles, Sequim, Port Townsend and Port Ludlow areas on Thursday (Dec. 20).

Other areas, such as Forks and Brinnon-Quilcene, will get 4G service in 2013, but there is no specific timetable, said Scott Charlston, a Verizon spokesman.

He said the company expects data services — Web-surfing, music and video, social media sharing and file downloads — on 4G-capable smartphones to be 10 times faster with 4G than the present 3G service.

Verizon Wireless started offering 4G LTE service in larger markets two years ago.

Verizon 4G LTE in Seattle and Portland, Ore., recently earned the title “fastest network” from RootMetrics, an independent evaluator of wireless-carrier speed and coverage.
