EDITOR’S NOTE — This story has been modified from its original version to correct the date of the memorial service.

PORT TOWNSEND — A memorial service for entrepreneur Frank d’Amore, who died earlier this month, is scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9.

The service for the co-founder of the Pane d’Amore bakery will be in the USO Building at Fort Worden State Park.

His life and business partner, Linda Yakush, discovered that he had died during the night Aug. 8.

He was 60. The cause of death was complications of diabetes.

Elliott Yakush, who is organizing the service, said several people have been invited to speak but that it will be open for people to share stories about d’Amore and his life.

The event will not be catered, so attendees are encouraged to bring a dish to share.

The Pane d’Amore bakery sells bread across the North Olympic Peninsula.

Linda Yakush and d’Amore founded the bakery uptown in 2003.

It has since expanded to Sequim and on Bainbridge Island.

The bakery will not be affected by d’Amore’s death, Yakush said.

He also was involved in several community projects, including the start of the Port Townsend Marine Science Center.

In addition to Yakush, d’Amore is survived by a son, Gabriel, 34, a partner in Pane d’Amore; a daughter, Laura Simone d’Amore, 36, who lives in Santa Barbara, Calif.; and a grandson, Theodore Archer Babcock, who was born the day before d’Amore was found dead.
