PORT ANGELES — Renee Lancaster, current assistant director of the North Olympic Peninsula Skills Center, has accepted a part-time assistant principal position at Stevens Middle School for the 2012-2013 school year.
Lancaster also teaches Spanish at Port Angeles High School and will continue in that position, said Superintendent Jane Pryne in an announcement Friday.
Lancaster’s assignment was approved by the School Board last Monday.
Lancaster replaces Joyce Mininger, who will assume the role of principal at Jefferson Elementary while the current Jefferson principal, Michelle Olsen, moves into the Roosevelt Elementary principalship.
“Renee is a good match for Stevens,” Pryne said.
“She has proven to be a vibrant leader during this past year as assistant director for the Skills Center and has provided great support to students there.
“We are very fortunate Renee has accepted the Stevens position.”
Lancaster has worked for the Port Angeles School District since fall 2001.
In addition to teaching Spanish, she also has served as a substitute administrator at several buildings, including Stevens, since 2006.
She was head fast-pitch coach at Port Angeles High School for two years, 2003 through 2005.
Lancaster taught Spanish for Ephrata High School in the Ephrata District prior to joining the Port Angeles School District.
She is a fluent speaker, reader and writer of Spanish.
Lancaster received her initial principal certification from Western Washington University in June 2004.
She has a master’s degree in secondary administration and a bachelor’s degree in Spanish from Western Washington University.
