Coast Guard hoists injured man 24 miles off Cape Flattery

NEAH BAY — A Coast Guard helicopter crew from Port Angeles hoisted an injured man from a cruise ship 24 miles northwest of Cape Flattery today.

The crew of an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Group/Air Station Port Angeles medically evacuated the man from the Celebrity Cruises’ vessel Mercury.

The Rescue Coordination Center in Victoria requested assistance from Coast Guard Group Port Angeles at 4:40 a.m. to help a 70-year-old man having medical issues.

The helicopter crew transported the man to Victoria General Hospital.
