Log exports from Aberdeen to end

ABERDEEN — Weyerhaeuser is closing its log export facility at Aberdeen, ending 54 jobs, because of the week demand for wood.
The company says remaining logs will be moved out over the next month as it consolidates log export operations at Longview and Olympia
Spokesman Anthony Chavez says Weyerhaeuser will meet with union officials to finalize severance packages.
KXRO radio reports the decision leaves Weyerhaeuser with only the Raymond mill and parcels of timberland in Grays Harbor and Pacific counties. It once was one of the area’s largest employers.
