SEQUIM — Want to run Clallam’s fastest-growing city?

You’ve got one month to apply for the job that pays $92,000 to $110,000 plus benefits — and comes with what the recruiter calls “problems” related to growth.

Sequim and the Dungeness Valley, according to the Internet “marketing brochure” about the town’s opening for a city manager, need “regulation of growth . . . that will preserve the essential characteristics of the community that have made it a desirable place.”

Sequim’s population has leaped 32 percent since 2000, and hovers around 6,000, the brochure says.

Sequim also needs a new City Hall and police station, a refurbished and expanded street system, an updated municipal code and, the brochure continues, a city manager who can help the City Council start a “public outreach program” to “improve confidence in city governance.”
