PORT TOWNSEND – The Jefferson County commissioners have created a committee which will review proposals to establish no-shooting zones in the county.

The first two proposals the committee will be addressing are in Paradise Bay and Irondale.

Appointed Monday for Commissioner District 1 was John Ebner of Port Townsend, a certified firearms safety instructor for the past seven years.

The District 2 appointee was Henry Werch of Kala Point, who has studied issues related to no-shooting zones in his role as a planning commissioner.

Raymond Hunter of Discovery Bay was the District 3 appointee.

Hunter was born and raised in Jefferson County and said he would like to see no-shooting zones along the shores of Discovery Bay, Chimacum Creek and Paradise Bay.
