A meeting on Clallam County Family YMCA’s proposal to build a swimming pool in partnership with the city of Port Angeles is set for 5:30 p.m. today at the YMCA building at 302 S Francis St.

The city is considering building a new public pool to replace the 43-year-old William Shore Memorial Pool at 225 E. Fifth St.

The two current proposals on the table: Refurbishing the existing pool, and building a new pool in partnership with the YMCA at the Y’s Francis Street building.

Last year, a city pool committee was told that fixing Shore Pool would cost around $5 million. A new pool at a new site would cost about $1 million more, the committee was told.
