POULSBO — The father of a Quilcene Elementary School student killed in a van crash early Tuesday morning reportedly had a blood-alcohol level more than twice the legal limit.

The father was driving a van that crashed into a guardrail in Kitsap County early Tuesday morning, the State Patrol said.

Daniel Viloria, 7, a first-grader at Quilcene School since Feb. 17, was pronounced dead at the scene on Finn Hill Road just off state Highway 3 near Poulsbo.

Daniel’s father, Emilio Viloria, 47, was booked into the Kitsap County jail for investigation of vehicular assault and drunken driving.

His blood-alcohol level was 0.18 percent, more than twice the legal limit of 0.08 percent, the State Patrol said.

He appeared in Kitsap County Superior Court Wednesday afternoon, where a judge set bail at $250,000. Formal charges are expected to be filed today or Friday.
