PORT ANGELES — Peninsula College officials have received $1.13 million from the state Legislature to begin designing a $20 million science and technology building.

Within a month, college officials will begin determining specific costs and where the building will be located on the main college campus, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd.

The building will contain all of the science-related characteristics of a showcase instructional facility — biology, chemistry, fisheries and natural resources classrooms and a laboratory outfitted with the latest technology, Peninsula College President Tom Keegan said.

“Currently, our science and technology classes are spread throughout campus in 40-year-old buildings,” Keegan said.

“The need for the new facility is great, and it will compliment our instructional efforts.”
