Developers responsible for malls’ impacts on Sequim, city official says

SEQUIM — Developers of two shopping centers in the western part of the city will be responsible for upgrading surrounding roads, city Planning Director Dennis Lefevre said Thursday.

Wal-Mart earlier this month announced plans to build a 194,000-square-foot supercenter, which includes a grocery outlet as well as the traditional store, on the northwest corner of Washington Street and Priest Road.

Meanwhile, an Arizona-based developer submitted plans for a 12-building shopping center, called Sequim Village Marketplace, on the other side of Washington Street in the same general area.

Home Depot and Albertson’s Food & Drug are committed as tenants, and it’s possible Target department store could join the line-up.
