Port Angeles has “lots of work” before developing fluoridation timeline

PORT ANGELES — City officials have to develop a timeline for installation of a water fluoridation system.

“There’s lots of work to be done before awarding the contract and fluoridating the water,” Public Works Director Glenn Cutler said Wednesday.

Cutler’s comments came a day after the City Council voted 6-1 to accept a Washington Dental Services Foundation grant of up to $260,000 to install the fluoridation equipment and provide public education.

The fluoridation system is expected to cost between $100,000 and $200,000, with the balance of the grant amount to be used for educating the public on fluoride-related issues.
