Port Townsend: More ferry runs altered by low tides

Expected low tides have prompted Washington State Ferries officials to alter the Port Townsend-Keystone sailing schedule for today.

The low tides have prompted officials to cancel the 8:30 p.m. sailing to Keystone and the 9:15 p.m. return to Port Townsend.

The runs will be replaced by a 9:15 p.m. sailing to Keystone and 9:45 p.m. return trip, officials said.

Low tides will also prompt cancellations of some sailings and return trips Dec. 29, Dec. 30 and Dec. 31.

Low tides combine with cross-currents at the mouth of the entrance to the Keystone terminal to make docking at the Whidbey Island station difficult.
