Sequim: SARC board to try levy at polls again

SEQUIM — Park and Recreation District No. 1 commissioners will ask voters again this fall to approve a replacement maintenance and operations levy to fund the Sequim Aquatic Recreation Center.

Commissioners voted Thursday to put the proposed six-year, 10 cents per $1,000 assessed value levy on the Nov. 5 general election ballot.

Board member Cindy Tipton opposed the decision.

Tipton called for commissioners to cut the levy to 7 cents per $1,000 assessed valuation.

The current district levy is 14 cents per $1,000 assessed valuation.

Earlier this week, voters apparently rejected a proposed levy of 12 cents.

At the end of counting Tuesday in the primary election, the measure only garnered 44.5 percent voter support.
