Quilcene shooting suspect pleads innocent

QUILCENE — Gary L. Middleton Sr. of Quilcene has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder in Jefferson County Superior Court.
Middleton, 61, is accused of killing Douglas Anthony Knight at a Quilcene motel on April 28.
He remains in the Jefferson County jail.
A bail hearing is scheduled for Tuesday in the Jefferson County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend.
Prosecuting attorneys say they will ask the court to set Middleton’s bail at $50,000 bond and require home monitoring at his own expense, court records show.
If convicted, Middleton faces a maximum penalty of life in prison.
