Port Angeles: Port holds off marketing ex-hangar as movie studio

PORT ANGELES — A proposed movie studio in a vacant industrial building was put on hold by Port commissioners Monday because of a prior lease option with a nearby magnetic-levitation company.
Hank Jernigan of Sol Duc Productions has proposed marketing the former airplane hangar as a movie studio. He has proposed that the Port pay him $5,600 to market the 1050 Building near William Fairchild International Airport to Hollywood movie producers.
Jernigan is a former Port of Port Townsend auditor and chief financial officer who produces videos and compact discs. He also has worked as a Hollywood film and television studio manager.
However, MagnaForce Inc., developer of a magnetic-levitation system that has garnered considerable statewide attention recently, has a 30-day right of first inquiry on the former hangar.
