PORT LUDLOW — North Bay neighborhood property owners will be assessed to help fund a new drainage district.

Jefferson County commissioners approved an ordinance Wednesday establishing a fee system to fund the district, which is charged with resolving the area’s long-standing flooding problems.

Under the assessment system, owners of a single-family home on 0.3 acres would be billed $93.93 annually for every $100,000 of assessed valuation. For a single family residence on 5.3 acres, that figure would be $116.52 for every $100,000 in valuation.

Owners of vacant lots will be charged at a reduced rate.
