PORT TOWNSEND — Three city councilmen announced Tuesday that they will not seek re-election.

Vern Garrison and Al Frank said they will not run for re-election and Bill Wolcott said he will not run to keep the seat he was appointed to a year ago.

So far, just four people have said they will run for City Council — Councilman Sydney Lipton, Lyn Hersey, Barbara McColgan and Kees Kolff.

Three of the positions are four-year terms, while the one Wolcott is vacating is a two-year term.

The three councilmen stepping down said Port Townsend’s divisive political atmosphere isn’t a factor in their decision.
