Port Townsend: Judge denies motion in carousel case

PORT TOWNSEND — In the ongoing fight over the Sausalito Carousel, a Jefferson County Superior Court Judge denied a city motion to bar the Port Townsend Carousel Association from spending any of its assets.

Visiting Judge Ken Williams on Friday turned down a request by the city of Port Townsend for a restraining order against the carousel association pending further hearing or an injunction.

The issue over the carousel began a year ago when the City Council sued the carousel association over $10,000 in bed tax revenues.

The association was to build a pavilion for a carousel the group already had in Port Townsend, documents show.

Instead, the money was used to purchase a second carousel and bring it to Port Townsend. But the city already had a carousel.
