PORT ANGELES — Holly Diimmel knows what state championship track and field meets are all about.

The Port Angeles High School junior today makes her third appearance at Star Track — the name for the Washington state 3A and 4A finals.

All events are contested in both classifications.

Diimmel placed 12th in the 4A javelin as a freshman and sixth last year as a sophomore.

Girls javelin is one of the first events this morning at Star Track XIX, a two-day event at the Lincoln Bowl in Tacoma which concludes Saturday.

“Hopefully I can start throwing like I really can,” Diimmel said. “I definitely need to get to the finals considering I was sixth last year.”

Diimmel threw 119 feet last season at Star Track. Her best throw this year is 118 feet, 2 inches.
